For my resource management project i decided to focus on Egypt and their lack of clean water. Egypt is one of the many countries suffering from Clean Water.
My Abstract for Project:
For my government project I choose to focus on the Egyptian clean water crisis. The problem isn't that Egyt lacks a water source; it's that they don't have accurate purifiers. A city that’s suffering a lot is Nile Delta. Nile Delta is a small city on the outskirts of Egypt. This small city is especially suffering from severe shortage of clean water. Hundreds of thousands of people are drinking heavily polluted water every day, walking miles in order to get clean water or fighting over the little water they have. The water has been mismanaged due to the governments neglect on the small cities. The Egyptian government gives priority to more touristy areas like Cairo. The reason is because Egypt's number one source of money comes from tourist attractions like the pyramids and Nile river cruises.
What I plan to do is a lot of outreach. I think it’s important for everyone to know about this issue. When I am in Egypt in March, I plan to make a documentary about the crisis and show it to a group or groups of people. I also plan on trying to get different companies to donate any kind of purifiers, that I can take to Egypt as a model and present it to some representative. I will present the model and teach them about the benefits and try to push for them to try it out.

Sociology Video
For sociology we had to do an experiment where we had to act defiant in society. My group was Kathrin and Joao. The first thing we did was me and Joao went to a subway in Ocean Beach and ordered our food in different languages. I ordered mine in Spanish and he ordered his in Portuguese. Then we spoke to eachother in english while the guy was telling us he didnt understand. Then we walked out. I was a really fun experiment, it was good to see how the guy reacted and funny to watch after
What i expected:
i expected the guy at the front to ask us to speak English to each other since we were speaking in English, but he didn't, he just stood there and looked at us weired and said he didn't understand.
Sociology of Drugs Story
For our project we had to look at "Why people do what they do". We had to each pick a drug and study it. We started off by writing a research paper and then we had to interview people who did that drug. With our interview we had to create a short story and use the information from our research paper and interviews.

Dear Diary,
Well today was the first day of 11th grade, it wasn’t as bad as I thought. Jackie, Bella and I had the same classes, which is gonna make high school a lot less boring. My Schedule was actually really good. I had English first period, History second, Math Third, Lunch, Biology fourth, P.E fifth and Spanish sixth. I was glad to have all the “hard” classes in the morning because I could relax at the end of the day. Something strange happened tho… When I walked into English I looked around for an empty seat as I walked to the front of the class, and saw Him! Yes my X boyfriend Jerry. I felt my stomach drop like an elevator, I started to get all sweaty and breathing harder and harder. I felt my steps getting weaker and started panicking for a seat. I sat down and looked away but I felt like someone was turning me head towards him. I didn’t know where any of it was coming from, we broke up during the summer and I was okay with it. But now I felt all these feelings coming back, like old times. The entire class I felt like someone was kicking me in the stomach and I ran out as fast as I could. I went to History and Jackie and Bella asked me why I was acting weird in English, I told them that I think I might still have feelings for Jerry and they warned me it wasn’t a good idea to get involved in that again, but I couldn’t help it.

Okay sorry I had to go help her bring the groceries inside, but anyways…The rest of the day was pretty good, and it was nice seeing all of my old friends again. When I got home I finished reading “Sex drugs and Coco puffs” which was a really good book, one of my favorites. And now I’m reflecting on the whole Jerry situation. I can’t stop thinking about him, I know it’s a bad because he wasn’t a good influence on me. He was the reason I started smoking marijuana and starving myself but you can’t help who you fall in love with. I guess ill just sleep on it and hopefully forget about him in the morning. Goodnight.

Dear Diary,
Hi again, today was even more confusing then yesterday, I was walking to History and Jerry came up to me and asked to talk to me, I said alright and we went behind the Math building. The conversation went like this,
Jerry: “Vanessa yesterday when you walked into class it felt like all the feelings I had for you came
back, you were a cool girl and I missed you”
Me: “Yeah me to, I was really confused”
Jerry: “Maybe it wasn’t over, I feel like I made a mistake letting you go”
Me: “I feel the same, I thought I had gotten over you but I guess not”
Jerry: “What are you doing today after school?”
Me: “I don’t know why”
Jerry: “You wanna hang out? Cruise by the beach maybe”
Me: “yeah sure, okay”
Jerry: “Cool meet me by my car after school, it’s by the Softball field”
Me: “Okay”
I was so excited, yet a little nervous. I didn’t tell Jackie or Bella because I knew they would think it was a bad idea. So I stormed out after Spanish and walked as fast as I could without running, to the parking lot by the softball ball field. I saw Jerry standing by his car waving. I ran and gave him a hug and he opened the door for me, I got in and my heart was beating so fast, I felt like it was gonna come out of my chest. He got in and we drove off. We talked about old memories the whole car ride to the beach and he made me smile the whole time. When we got there he said some friends were gonna join us, and bring some thizz, I was a little uncomfortable that he was gonna thizz but I tried to forget about it and tell myself it wasn’t a big deal. We walked along the beach and found a good spot to sit, there was no one else where we were at so it felt really romantic. He said “I have something for you” and pulled out a plastic bag from his pocket, inside was marijuana. I got excited and he pulled out his little blue pipe from his other pocket along with his lighter. We started smoking and stopped when his friends got there. Andrew who was Jerrys Best friend was there along with 3 other guys I have never met before. One of them was Mike. He was white, had light brown short hair with a hat, he was wearing black converse all stars and was holding a skate board. Which I didn’t get because you can’t skateboard on the sand. The other guy was Josh; He was shirtless, holding a lit cigarette in his right hand and put it in between his lips to shake my hand. The other guy was Zach; he seemed like the quiet one of the bunch. He was texting the whole time. After I met the boys, Josh said “Ay I got the tizz” and he pulled out a bag from his pocket, inside was blue little pills with the Mickey Mouse faces outlined on them. Jerry said “Damn dude thank god, my dealer wasn’t gonna have any till Friday, it was killing me”. Josh then got another bag from his pocket and put 8 of the pills in the other bag and handed them to Jerry. They then asked me if I wanted any. I said “no I’m good with just the weed” and Jerry said alright then. The truth was I was scared; I was scared to try other drugs because I didn’t want to get addicted to them. After that Jerry drove me home and asked me if I wanted to hang out the next day, I said yeah of course. I wouldn’t miss another chance to hang out with himJ he is amazing.

Dear Diary,
I haven’t written in here in a while, I’ve just been really busy, well when I say busy I mean that I’ve been spending a lot of time with Jerry. I haven’t talked to Jackie or Bella in a while, I speak to them in class but during lunch I hand out with Jerry and his friends. I feel like we are getting distant, but I know I have Jerry so I don’t feel so bad. Friday was such a crazy day, a day I will never forget. I went to Jerrys’s house and we were smoking out of his brand new bong. Josh came over and said “I just got the best deal on 100 tabs”. He then showed me what looked like a paper with a design of the
Mad hatter printed on it. The design was so weird; the mad hatter from Alice and wonderland was caring a clock and walking, it was a huge one with little ones in the background. Josh asked me if I wanted to try acid, I was quiet for a bit, I looked at Jerry and he smiled and nodded, I smiled a nervous smile and said “Umm sure” Josh then punched out a piece from the blotter and told me to put it on my tongue. I let it sit on my tongue for a while and about 45 min later I started feeling the affects. I was staring at a huge stop sign that Jerry has on his wall, and all of a sudden I started to melt, like it was made out of water. Then I looked at Jerry and his head was huge, it was popping up and down and looked like it was gonna explode, I got scared and ran but I felt like I wasn’t going anywhere, I finally sat down and saw crabs and lobsters on the wall, they were really bright red with orange heads, they were crawling up the wall, there were about 5 of them and then they vanished. I then started thinking about how the universe works and it seemed like I knew all the mysteries of the world, It felt like I knew exactly what was going to happen before it happened, I knew what everyone was gonna say before they said it, everything made sense. I was getting paranoid but I just layed down and don’t remember anything else. I woke up on Jerrys’s bed; he was lying on the floor sleeping. I couldn’t really remember much of what happened, just of the really trippy stuff. I then looked at my phone and had 29 missed called, from my mom. I hadn’t come home and she must have been worried sick about me. I knew I was in a ton of trouble so I woke Jerry up and asked him to drive me home ASAP. He drove me home and I made sure he dropped me off a block away so that my mom wouldn’t see I was with Jerry. I was nervous but I opened the unlocked door and walked into the living room, and there was my mom sitting on the couch, she jumped up and said “Vanessa! Where were you, I was worried sick” I told her that I was at Jackie’s house but she said “Don’t lie to me, she called the house last night “I freaked out because I didn’t know what to say but I just told her that I was with Bella and we went to Jackie’s house at like 12 in the morning and I ended up falling asleep while we were watching a movie. I told her I was really sorry that I forgot to call her and she grounded me for a week! Can you believe it??? We ended up getting in a fight and I snuck out that night and went with Jerry. We smoked some weed, and then took more hits of LSD. This experience was a lot better then the last. I saw everything in vivid colors, flashing and the blanket I had was talking to me, but it made no sense and the blanket had eyes and a mouth. Jerry then gave me orange juice which enhanced the feeling, it was great.

I don’t even know why I bother, I called Bella to ask her if she wanted to hang out with Jerry and I and she started rambling about how Jerry was ruining my life and she loved me to much to see me ruin my life with drugs. I told her I loved Jerry and she didn’t understand. I don’t know she can’t just be happy for me! Wow I haven’t written in here for a week! I think this is probably gonna be the last time, I just never have time anymore, I much rather spend my time getting high...but anyway Today was weird, I was walking to class and all of a sudden I saw a lobster walking in front of me, I looked around to see if anyone saw it but everything was normal and when I looked back it was gone…the crazy thing was I wasn’t even high. Something else that has happened is Jackie isn’t speaking to me anymore, she said that as long as I am with Jerry, she will not talk to be because it makes her “sad” that I’m ruining my life, she even went up to Jerry and yelled at him! How dare her. Whatever tho, shes not a true friend because if she was she would want me to be happy and see that Jerry makes me happyJ I know he’s the reason I started doing LSD but I don’t care, I really like it now and I’m glad I tried it. I’m going to vacation in big bear next weekend with Jerry, Josh, Mike and Joshes dealer. Which will be awesome because we will probably have a grip of LSD and Weed. I told my mom that I was going with Bella for the weekend; I just hope she doesn’t run into her or call her and even if she does, it’s worth it. So far this has been the best year ever!

Cynthia's Political Party
Pro-choice. Every women will have the right to decided if she wants an abortion or not. A government shouldn't try to strip people of this right. My party will make abortion legal in every state. It keeps women safer because there will be little to no "back alley abortion" which can cause serious problems and in some cases be fatal.
A universal health care system will be put in place. My party will promise to make health care a right not a privilege. No one should have to be stressing on how they are going to pay there medical bill. And no one should be discouraged to go to the doctor if they think something is wrong just because they don't have health care. In my party we will manage our money and not waste it on pointless wars like the current government is doing. Health care will be a top priority.
The government will not discriminate against anyone. It will be the persons choice who they wish to date and marry. All men are created equal and will be treated equal no matter what their sexual orientation is. This government will make sure that every state has the same law when it comes to this issue.
Education
Education is another big issue. The current education system needs to be reformed. The United States is supposedly such a great country but in such a great country, how does the education system fall out of the top 10 in the world. Cuba has a better education system. (no offence to Cuba) This party will help motivate kids in school and will also make sure college is affordable. College has become a must in today's society so we need to find a way to make it more affordable so its a possibility for everyone
Top Three Issues
My top three rankings...
Environment
I think the environment should be a top priority because of the way we have mismanaged it. The environment is something that affects everyone, not only Americans. Global Warming is something that isn't slowing down, its only working quicker and we need to find a solution to the problem before its to late. I think it's sad how much damage we have done to the environment. We should be working overtime on trying to fix as much as we can to make up for all the neglect we have shown.
Health Care
Health care is another big issue. I think health care should be a right not a privilege. There are so many countries like Canada, France, Spain and Germany who all provide universal health care to their citizens. Universal health care would be a great solution to the ongoing health care problem. The number one reason why people go bankrupt is because they can't pay their medical bills. If we had universal health care people wouldn't have to worry about being able to afford a visit to the doctors and illnesses will be caught sooner, so less people will die of a preventable illness.
Homeland Security
Homeland security is another issue that shouldn't be taken lightly. I think everyone should feel safe in there country and everyone should be protected. Especially after 9/11, its crucial that we focus on keeping our country safe from more terrorist attacks. 9/11 was definitely a wake up call to our government. They need to make sure to keep us safe so that another 9/11 doesn't happen.

This reading was very confusing to me. I honestly didn't get much out of it because of the vocabulary they used and the style it was written. I'm interested in what it said but i just couldn't get myself to get through it.
What makes an American?
An American is a person who has lived in the United States for a while and knows about the American culture and life style. I dont think that only white people are Americans because even white people come from different backgrounds. Diversity is what makes our country so great, we need it in order to function well. As long as you live here and are a working part of society than you are an American.
Where do I see government in my day-to-day life?
I see the government in everything. Right now I have to TV on in my room and I see the government in that because of all the censoring. The TV is a main one because so many people watch it and don't even notice that its being monitored. I also see the government in my school, because the government is funding the school. I see the government on my way to school, all the stop signs and lights are all government funded. I could see the government in a lot of things everyday and I never noticed how its in so many things.
If I could register for any party, what would it be?
If i could register for any party it would the the democratic party. I stongly believe in their ideals. I also support Obama 100 percent. I think he is the change this country needs. The most important issues to me are the war in Iraq and the Enviroment. I think the war needs to end because it has become pointless and a waste of time. I also think the enviorment is important because it affects everyone not only the United States.

The Libertarian way is a logically consistent approach to politics based on the moral principle of self-ownership. Each individual has the right to control his or her own body, action, speech, and property. Government's only role is to help individuals defend themselves from force and fraud.
Views on Issues
Abortion: Recognizing that abortion is a sensitive issue and that people can hold good-faith views on all sides, we believe that government should be kept out of the matter, leaving the question to each person for their conscientious consideration.
Personal Relationships: Sexual orientation, preference, gender, or gender identity should have no impact on the rights of individuals by government, such as in current marriage, child custody, adoption, immigration or military service laws. Consenting adults should be free to choose their own sexual practices and personal relationships. Government does not have the authority to define, license or restrict personal relationships.
Energy and Resources: Energy is needed to fuel a modern society, government should not be subsidizing any particular form of energy. We oppose all government control of energy pricing, allocation, and production.
